Practice to Purpose:
Become a Christian Yoga Teacher
Rooted in faith. Created in Denmark. For the world.
Turn your practice into purpose
Through the CrossYoga Method, you'll learn to integrate movement, faith, and healing into your teaching practice, and graduate with a Yoga Alliance-approved 200hr certification.
Study at your own pace, connect with students internationally, join live group sessions,
and receive personal feedback from our trainers during your online training.
I'm Rie, founder of CrossYoga. It was a path that grew out of a Masteres degree in Social Science, two years of theology training, and eventually, over 3,000 hours of teaching yoga.
The more I experienced how movement and stillness could deepen my walk with God, the more I knew this couldn't stay just my own idea.
CrossYoga Academy exists to train those who want to carry that same calling and share it with others, helping people experience God’s peace and love.
My hope is that you’ll walk away from this training changed, and share that change to everyone you teach.
Why I Turned My Practice Into Purpose
What is the
?
CrossYoga Method
A Christ-centered approach to yoga that brings faith, science, reflection, and community together.
The CrossYoga Method is built around a few things we believe make a meaningful difference in how you learn, practice, and grow:
Faith-based
Explore yoga through a Christ-centered lens, with space for prayer, Scripture, and a deeper understanding of faith and the body.
A scientific approach
We make sure to use references and recognized scientific research when it comes to the anatomy, yoga philosophy, and yoga history. We also stay humble and acknowledge that we don’t know everything.
Receive personal feedback
You won’t simply complete assignments and move on. You’ll receive personal feedback throughout your training to help you grow in both confidence and skill.
Journaling & reflection
Your training isn’t only about learning information. You’ll have opportunities to pause, reflect, journal, and notice how what you’re learning connects with your own faith and life.
Get connected with an international community
Learn alongside people from different countries, backgrounds, and experiences. Build connections and friendships that can continue beyond your training.
Holistic health & wellness
We look at the whole person - body, mind, soul, and spirit, and explore how these dimensions can work together toward greater health and wholeness.
"Whether you're new to yoga or experienced,
CrossYoga Academy provides a safe and uplifting way to grow stronger and rest in God's presence, while equipping you to share this Christ-centered practice with others."

Frequently asked questions
-
You don’t need to be a ‘yoga expert’, be super flexible, or do headstands to become a CrossYoga Instructor! Many students start the training mainly to learn more about yoga for themselves, but end up wanting to teach CrossYoga.
You don’t need to be a certain body type or in shape to do the training! In fact, we LOVE that we all look different, as God created us all uniquely. If you have injuries that prevent you from doing all the poses: don’t worry. There will be students looking for someone to teach them exactly the way you are able to!
-
The 200hr training methode typically takes around 200 hours to complete, but everyone moves through it differently. Some love digging into the details, while others move faster, especially if you're already familiar with yoga postures and anatomy. To keep everything you've learned fresh, we ask that you complete the training within a year.
-
The CrossYoga 200-Hour Training is for people who feel drawn to explore Christian yoga more deeply, whether that leads to teaching, ministry, personal growth, or simply a deeper understanding of faith and the body.
Once you complete the training, you'll be certified to teach Christian yoga in your own class, a small group, or your local community.
-
The training is for everybody regardless of faith, race, identity or other things that can be used to differentiate us. You’ll learn to be a yoga instructor; this also means that you’ll be qualified* to teach in a “non-Christian studio.” If you choose to teach CrossYoga after your certification, you need to be familiar with prayer and Bible reading and feel confident in sharing your faith.
This training is based on Christian faith and we strive to make everything easy to understand and open to anybody!
Completing the 200 hour training will make you eligible to register as a yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance. This is completely optional, but some studios will require this certification to teach.
-
You’ll have the option to choose your payment plan when you register, just click the drop down menu on the registration page in Thinkific and you’ll find the options there. Use this link to convert into your currency .
Look further up on this page if you are interested in a grant.

Participation in all the modules and program items is mandatory on the face to face trainings. Should injuries prevent you, you may sit and listen and instruct while seated.
In addition to the modules, there will be required reading materials in English. The reading can be done before the training starts.
In the Danish training only: It is expected that you do yoga on your own at least once a week during your training. This can be through online instruction or in person. You will evaluate the yoga classes you attend on your own by keeping a journal of your observations that you will share with a CrossYoga teacher.
-
Yes, those who complete the 200-hr program will become a CrossYoga RYT with Yoga Alliance. Our 200 hour training is a registered Yoga Alliance School and is therefore a more extensive training compared to our basic 100 hour Module 1 course.
Those who only complete the 100 hour training (Module 1) will receive a CrossYoga certificate and will have to complete Module 2 in the future to become a Yoga Alliance Instructor.
How Christian is This Training
?
As with most Yoga Teacher Trainings you are represented with spirituality so you learn about Christianity and e.g. how to theme a faith-based class. Which is why you don’t have to be Christian to join this training.
We do not take for granted the students that have a Christian faith.
We strive avoid words and phrases that are hard to grasp as we want to respect that we are all on different paths in our lives journey with spirituality.
CrossYoga Academy offers a high-quality training founded in both an academical and Christian mindset. We respect the roots of yoga and acknowledge that yoga has changed a lot since its early start.
